Raquel Perez, also known as Rocky, was born and raised in the Pico Neighborhood of Santa Monica. This Chicana's poetry appears in Poet Speak Magazine. She recently self-published a book of poems touching on themes of language, intersecting identities, LGBTQ+, LA-based gentrification, heartbreak, loss, and more.

Confessions of a Chicana with a Broken Tongue takes us through an emotional roller coaster of the author's experiences with identity issues, social injustices, and heartbreak. This Chicana might have a broken tongue, but she uses her heart and poems to speak her truth.
